Tract Ministry
“I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I
might save some.” 1 Corinthians 9:22
Riddle: What do the baseball player Mickey Mantle, the missionary
Hudson Taylor, and the Japanese captain Mitsuo Fuchida, who led the bombing
raid on Pearl Harbor, have in common?
Answer: They all received Christ as a result of reading a gospel
tract.
Paul used “all possible means” to share the gospel. If he were alive
today, he would have most certainly used tracts and other forms of the
gospel in print to win souls.
Tracts have received a bum rap by many Christians. A
gospel tract will not save everyone, but as long as some receive Christ
because of them, we need to use them. We will reap what we sow. The more
tracts we sow, the more salvations we will reap.
Tracts that don’t look like tracts are more apt to be
read. Use tracts that are colorful, appealing to the eye, and have catchy
titles. They are available for almost every circumstance, place, and
language.
Beware: Some tracts do not contain the gospel
or tell people how to become born-again. These are called “feel good”
tracts. Don’t waste your money or energy buying them.
Your personal testimony in tract form is also a great
evangelism tool. Use a home publishing or greeting card program to create
one on your home computer.
It’s what we do habitually that makes us effective. Be
prepared by keeping a tract wallet in your purse or pocket with variety of
tracts. Carry tracts everywhere you go, because peoples’ lives are hanging
in the balance.
