God Will Open Doors
“What is impossible with men is possible with God.”
Matthew 19:26
The Cumberland County Fair was filled with people.
Some had taken their family out for a day of fun in the July heat. Others
were carnival workers selling their food and operating rides to make ends
meet. Our church had a booth at the fair offering prayer to every passerby.
For one week we took turns manning the prayer station.
We prayed for every imaginable need from “I am suicidal” to “I need a job”
and asked God to meet that need. The hearts of the people were warmed and
opened to hear the Truth after we prayed for them. We presented the gospel
to hundreds of people and gave God the glory for using us in the area of
prayer evangelism.
One of the people we prayed for was Mike. Mike is a
Muslim who had a booth selling sunglasses, body piercing rings, and
jewelry. He wandered over to our tent after one of our workers visited his
booth with a tract.
Mike had questions about the contents of the tract and
explained that he was thoroughly versed in the Koran, but knew very little
about the Bible. He asked about the differences between Christianity and
Islam. As one of our workers presented the gospel to him, I prayed for
wisdom and the right words to say.
The Holy Spirit prompted me to say, “What is the
biggest thing that you need God to do for you? Think of something so big,
so virtually impossible, that only a God who is alive and powerful could
meet that need. Jesus wants to prove Himself strong to you!”
Mike got a perplexed look on his face. This wasn’t
something he had ever heard. He told us that he would think about it and
come back to see us the next day. When he came back he shared his biggest
need with us and we prayed and agreed that Jesus would most assuredly prove
that He is who He says He is.
Have you asked God to use you in ways that seem
impossible? Make a list of all of the ways you desire to minister to the
lost and hurting, things so big that they seem virtually impossible. And
then stand back and watch Jesus prove Himself strong on your behalf.
